Houston, we have a walker!!

Look out world....Beckham Brooks is officially a walker! Tonight he had his first steps and I'm so happy Brian and I were both there to see it! This video is about 2o minutes after his first step's, it's amazing how much he improved in a short amount of time. We are so proud of you, Beckham Brooks! Love you!!!

This post is for GT!

Ok, I know that I've been slacking on the blog front. We've been so busy lately!! So this post is for my father in law, GT! (No more giving me a hard time about not blogging!! :) )

Beckham has changed so much in the last two months! He's so close to walking.. Brian thinks it will happen this weekend, but time will tell. All Beck wants to do is hold is hands and walk around. I think he would've already been walking by now, but unfortunately, we had a little bump in the road. Beck broke his arm and had to be put in a cast. It was so sad and cute all at the same time. It was the littlest cast I've ever seen!

Beckham also has a new obsession... Yo Gabba Gabba. I swear he could hear the beginning of the show in the other room and crawls as fast as his little body can carry him to get to Yo Gabba Gabba! It is so cute! He loves to dance to the songs and has the biggest smile on his face the entire time.. I love it!
His Auntie Ann was here last weekend and brought him this lion pillow, and oh boy, that is his FAVORITE thing right now. He will lay on his pillow with his night night and drink his bottle. Where did my baby go? He doesn't even need me to give him a bottle anymore.. so sad! :( This little boy has become so independent in the last few months, it's crazy. Beckham is so smart, sometimes too smart where mommy can't get away with hiding things. haha!

I am so proud of Beck over the last few months! I can't believe his 1st birthday is less than a month away, where does the time go!?! He seems to change and grow everyday. I love watching his little brain work and figure things out. I never knew a love like this existed. I love you, Beckham Brooks!

9 months!

My Beckham,

You are 9 months old! I cannot believe that your turning 1 in 3 months... How is that possible?! You've all the sudden blossomed into a little boy. You are eating pretty much anything these days, which is a lot more fun than just formula and puree baby food. Your favorite thing so far is grilled cheese and bananas! I believe that is your favorite meal at the moment. We love to see your reaction on your face when you try something new, it's adorable.

Another milestone this month is all your movement!! You are literally crawling everyone, pulling yourself up on everything and pushing a wagon while walking behind it. I'm afraid you are going to be walking so soon! VV told us that your daddy started walking at 10 months... and you are exactly like your dada so far. Your favorite spot is on your daddy's shoulders. You could sit there forever, it's so cute!

It's been so fun to watch your little brain grow along with your curiosity. Your also getting braver with each day. Trying something new or achieving something you tried the day before. Your dad and I are incredible proud for you. The love we have for you is indescribable! We always talk about what we were doing before you came into our lives and your dada said, "I dunno, but it was pointless until Beck was here!" Which I totally agree. You are so special!!

I love you boogie! Can't wait to see what you do next month....

A Little Boy's Best Friend

I've heard of a man's best friend, but I've never heard of a little boy's best friend. Tatum and Beck are literally best buds. They follow each other around the house, it's so adorable. Wherever Tatum is, that's where Beckham wants to be and vise versa. I've never seen such a funny, cute relationship before between a baby and a dog.


We've taught Beckham to "pat" Tatum and he will do that forever, if Tatum will sit still long enough. Tatum also loves to lick Beck, and of course, Beckham just thinks it's the funniest thing. I can't wait till Beckham is running around and they can play together outside in the yard. I believe it's a beginning to a great friendship.

Walking Warning

I'm afraid Beck is going to be walking on his own in no time. Today we pulled out this wagon just to see how he would do, but we had no idea that he could push this and walk all by himself. I can't get over how much he's changing this month! He is so fun right now!!

Vroom......

VV got Beck this toy car for Easter and oh boy, does he love it!! He already figured out how to make it go just by watching Brian and I. I know I'm bias, but my baby boy seems to be quite the smarty pants. :)

Beckham's Mama

I had no idea what to except joining the elite club called Motherhood. I thought I had a pretty good idea being around my sister in law, Katie and my nephew Cooper. However, that was just bits and pieces. Being a mother is truly everything I dreamed it would be and more. Motherhood is so rewarding, but oh boy, it will test you at the same time. All the sleepless nights, smelling like spit-up, the colic spell, the blow-out diapers, early wake up calls, etc make it all worth it because every morning I get to see Becks, my son, smile at me. I seem to catch myself in awe of him on a daily basis. Whether it's Beckham crawling, playing with toys, eating food, sleeping, it doesn't seem to matter, I am truly fascinated by him. To think that he became this little boy inside my belly is the most amazing thing. All the little features of Beckham from his blonde locks all the way down to his cute little toes, were created by Brian and I, how remarkable. I am so blessed to have Becks as my son. I love you, Beckham Brooks.

Beck on the go!

Oh my lands, where has the month of April gone?! I apologize for not posting anything for awhile. Our lives have been very hectic lately. This should help explain what we've been up to.....



Chasing this adorable baby boy!!! I can't believe how much Beckham is on the go. This afternoon, I went into Beck's room and this is what I saw when I opened the door....

How can you not love a hello like this?!

8 Months

My Beckham,

Holy cow... how in the world are you 8 months old already?!? What happened to my baby? You have changed so much over the last few months. You have 2 teeth and in the process of getting 2 more! You seem to be sooo happy in the morning (your just like your daddy in that aspect). You are crawling all over the place... wherever you want to go, you get there! You also love to stand and hold on to the side of the couch. I'm afraid your going to be walking in no time.

I can tell you one thing...you are one smart little boy! You love to hold toys and analyze them, it's one of your favorite things to do. You can also sit up all by yourself at your play table and be totally entertained. That's when I realized you weren't a baby anymore, you were growing into a toddler.

One of your other favorite things to go for runs with me. You absolutely love the jogging stroller. If the weather isn't nice and we aren't able to go outside for a few days, you get cabin fever. I have to tell you, running with you everyday is definitely one of my favorite things too. It's so nice to have time with just you and doing something we both enjoy. Your the best running buddy anyone could have. I look forward to our daily runs.


You've started eating Gerber Sweet Potato puffs and you LOVE them. We've also started introducing more fruit and veggies into your diet. At the end of a meal you use your sippy cup to wash down the yummy food you just ate. However, you HATE and I mean HATE when meal time is over. I can already tell that you're an eater.


You had your first ear infection this week, which in my opinion is pretty good considering your 8 months old. Some babies get sick or get ear infections when they are only a few months old. Somehow we were able to keep you sick free for 8 months.

I am so amazed by you, Beckham. I can't imagine my life without you in it. Everyday when I'm at work, I can't wait for the time to come home and play with you. No matter how hard my day was or how exhausted I am, when I walk through the door and see your sweet little smile, it makes everything better. I can't wait to see what you do this summer. This summer will be so fun! GT and VV are going to have pool at their house and I'm sure you and the Smith boys will become little fishes!

Boys!

Today, we headed over to the Smith house to have all the cousins together and man, those boys are going to have some fun over the years! We already got a taste with Beck and Cooper. Beckham was just fascinated with Cooper as he was literally running circles around Beck! It was hilarious to watch Beck try and keep up with Coop. I'm afraid there will be some ruff housing in our near future. Watch out GT and VV... your house is probably the target!

Beck already looks up to Cooper and thinks he's so cool!


And then there was sweet mellow Ev, who just hung out in his rock n' play. I'm sure he'll be in the thick of it too asap!

It was so fun to have all the boys together. They are going to get into some mischief together for sure! Well, maybe not, they look innocent enough....right?!? Haha!

One Proud Auntie!

I am so excited to say that EVERETT BURKE SMITH was born last week! He's soo adorable and I can't wait to get my hands on this little guy again! Welcome to the family Everett!! I can't wait to watch Beckham, Cooper and Everett grow up and become best buds...oh boy! Your Uncle Brian and I can't wait to see you grow. Love you!

Changes

Beck is changing more and more everyday. He's so close to crawling and just talks gibberish all day long. To quote Brian "it's the sweetest sound" and I completely agree. On our way to Manhappy on Thursday, he chatted the whole way over. It was adorable. Brian and I just kept laughing to ourselves.
One thing that I have noticed about Beckham, is how curious he is. He will grab a toy and just study it for several minutes. This kiddo is very inquisitive.
Not only is he very inquisitive, but he also LOVES books! Beck is so content just laying down or sitting in our laps looking at books.When we were in Manhappy, I dressed Beck in some KU gear for the basketball game! He loved it! He was so excited KU won, he made a smush face!!!

I absolutely love to watch him grow and change everyday! He's a keeper!!

Smush Face

Beckham has this new face, which we call "smush face!" It's sooo funny! It makes Brian and I laugh every single time. Enjoy!!

Peek A Boo!

Beck and I were playing peek a boo with a doggy bucket this morning. He gets a kick out of the smallest things.... I love it!

Reading Reptile

Today, Beck and I ventured to Kansas City to have a fun day with Katie and Coop! The four of us headed to Brookside to check out this ADORABLE bookstore, The Reading Reptile. Coop's first words when we walked in was " WOOOOWWW!" I definitely agreed with him! It was too cute. We had fun flipping through books and looking at all the adorable characters hanging from the ceilings. It is literally one of those children's bookstores that you always hear about and want to visit. So much character and fun things to do. I think Kate and I had more fun than the boys... haha! AND to top it off, they even had a cupcake shop in the bookstore! I mean, what kid wouldn't be in heaven!? I highly suggest taking your little ones there! They had books for all ages. I plan to go back sooner rather than later.

6 Month Stats

We took Beck to the doctor on Monday and here this is what we learned....

Weight: 17.5 lbs (50 percentile)
Height: 27.5'' (80 PERCENTILE... umm where did this come from?!?!)

Our little boy is growing up soo fast!!! He also has 2 teeth and more trying to pop through!

Half way to 1!!

Beckham Brooks,

Today you are 6 months old. What a perfect Valentine's Day gift! How in the world are you already 6 months old!? The time has flown by! I can't believe how much you've changed since the day we brought you home. It's amazing to me how much you've changed just in the last month. You are rolling all over the place, eating fruits and veggies, sleeping on your belly, and sitting up on your own. Your dad and I are so incredibly proud of you! Lately, you have found your voice and just love to talk gibberish. I think it's so darn cute and it makes your dad and I laugh every time.

Your favorite time of day seems to be right when you get up in the morning. You are so happy and just smile and laugh the whole time you're awake. You seem to love bath time except when you have to get out and cry as loud as you can! (so much for thinking you were going to be pig pen... maybe now you'll be a little swimmer because you love the water so much) You have started to splash when you're in the tub and you seem so amazed by it. I love to watch you be amazed by something or try something new. I can see your little wheels start to turn and figure it out!

I love you more than anything! I never knew a love like this existed and seem to love you more and more everyday. When you smile at me, it completely melts my heart and makes my day. I cannot wait to see what you do in the next month or 6 months for that matter. I'm sure you will be crawling and running around this house in no time. Your dad and I love so much and bring tons of happiness to our lives. Happy 6 Month Birthday Beckham Brooks! We love you!

Manhappy

Last weekend, we ventured over to Manhappy for some family time. Friday night we went to RAB (Rock a Belly) and had some yummy drinks. For some reason, I don't care if it's -4 degrees outside, but I love their summer beer. It's so delicious!!!

Saturday night, my family came over to the Abbotts to watch the KU vs KSU basketball game. It was so much fun to have both families together and yummy food that Brian's parents made. Beck and Indie had so much fun playing together too, I love watching them play. Brian and I were the only Jayhawks in the house and thank goodness we won, because we would've never heard the end of it! Haha.

It was a quick weekend, but so much fun. I love seeing our families!! Beck was definitely tired after that trip....

I'm sorry, but Beckham is so darn cute!!! I love this pic of him. I think he gets cuter everyday!!

Veggie of Week

SQUASH!!! Beck seems to love squash more than green beans. Haha

Beckham laughs

Brian can always get Becks to giggle! We were changing his diaper last night and caught some good laughs on camera. I told Brian after we put Beck to bed, that it was probably the sweetest sound I've ever heard (except hearing Beckham's heartbeat for the first time). This was the first time Beck has really laughed out loud. Enjoy!!!

Veggie of the Week

We starting to introduce veggies to Beck. It is rather hilarious and makes for good entertainment during the day. Last week was sweet potatoes and here are some pictures of that....


This week we are trying green beans! I definitely got more of a reaction from green beans than I did from sweet potatoes. His facial expressions are hilarious, here are some pics to entertain you...

Bath Time

Beck absolutely used to HATE baths! We thought he would end up being the stinky kid in class like Pig Pen, from Charlie Brown. However, that is not the case anymore... thank goodness! He loves to play and stare at his colorful shapes from the Boon frog. He's still getting used to water being poured over his head, but is liking it more and more with every bath.



After bath time we get all ready for bed and have some mellow playtime. Here's an upside down, birds eye view of Becks after his bath tonight! I think it's a funny picture. Haha.
